Increasing Access to Breakthrough Clinical Trials for Patients in Poland

Poland is strengthening its position as one of the leading clinical research hubs in Europe. In recent months, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of international clinical trials conducted at Polish research centers, particularly in oncology, neurology, and autoimmune diseases.

According to public registries such as ClinicalTrials.gov (https://clinicaltrials.gov) and the European Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS) (https://euclinicaltrials.eu), Poland ranks among the most active countries in clinical research in Central and Eastern Europe.

An increasing number of patients in Poland are gaining access to innovative therapies even before they are introduced into standard clinical practice. These include targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and advanced combination treatments, which have demonstrated meaningful improvements in clinical outcomes—extending survival and significantly enhancing quality of life in selected patient groups.

Poland’s attractiveness for clinical trial sponsors is driven by a highly qualified medical workforce, well-developed infrastructure, and efficient patient recruitment. As a result, the country is involved in numerous global Phase III clinical trials—those directly preceding the registration of new medicines.

At the same time, non-commercial research is gaining importance, supported among others by the Medical Research Agency. These initiatives focus not only on the development of new therapies, but also on improving diagnostics, integrating artificial intelligence into clinical practice, and optimizing treatment pathways.

For patients, this translates into greater access to modern treatment options—often in situations where standard therapies have already been exhausted.

At BRG, we actively conduct new clinical trials, contributing to the development of innovative therapies and expanding patient access to cutting-edge treatment options.
